Mike A. Gonzalez

Pastor Mike A. Gonzalez : Senior Pastor

What does your job involve?
My job involves preaching and teaching at CWO Church. I also head out Zelos School of Ministry (which is a ministry of CWO) and I am the main teaching professor for the school. Another one of my responsibilities is training and equipping pastors in Guatemala in our 7 churches that we oversee there. I also handle most of our graphic design work along with most of my own secretarial work.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Havana, Cuba. I was raised in my early childhood years in Hollywood, FL. I have also lived in Ohio, Mississippi, Louisiana and South Carolina.

When and how did you come to know Christ?
I was saved at the age of 9 at Sheridan Hills Baptist Church in Hollywood, FL. My grandmother was instrumental in sharing the gospel with me and leading me to Christ.

What was the first job you ever had?
The first job I ever had was being a lifeguard in Biloxi, MS. The certification for being a lifeguard was difficult but I passed it and really enjoyed the job.

How did you get into the ministry?
After getting married in 1989 the Lord called me to serve Him completely (full-time ministry). I enrolled at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and completed my Masters of Divinity Degree. While I was completing my seminary degree I began to serve as a youth minister in a local church in New Orleans, LA.

What brought you to CWO?
My wife and I led by the Spirit of God started CWO Church in July 1997.

What do you like most about your job?
What I like most is teaching the saints the Word of God. I like sharing with people one on one the deep truths of scriptures.

What is your most memorable moment in ministry?
There are really too many, but, I believe the most memorable was when I heard God call me to serve Him. It was clear and unmistakable.

What is something most people would not know about you?

That I enjoy being alone sometimes. I weep a lot.

What is your favorite verse?
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:5-11
